Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician is primarily a front-line inspector.  The emphasis will be on dimensional verification of the pre- and post-production product with related record keeping associated with the task.  In addition, the Quality Control Technician will properly mark production materials as per specifications.  

Pay will be based on interview and experience. 

This is a long term, temp-to-hire position. 

Schedule

Monday - Friday.   Will occasionally work overtime and some Saturdays.   

1st Shift:  6 am - Finish 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects make-to-order structures prior to pouring for dimensional accuracy, hole locations and sizes, proper steel reinforcing, and lift inserts as per the shop drawings.
  • Inspects process repetitive stock precast production for dimensional accuracy, joint design condition, lifting inserts, and location of such. 
  • Marks finished goods as per the storage specifications.
  • Establishes product status using a color-coded system.
  • Checks patch and grind repairs, and releases product to new status.
  • Fills out all inspection reports and inventory adjustment forms.
  • Takes a sample of raw materials for testing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Must be able to learn and understand shop drawings.
  • Must be able to read reinforcing schedules.
  • Must be able to understand SUDAS, IDOT, and MPP Quality Control specifications. 
  • Must be extremely accurate in reporting and filing.
  • Must be able to use hand tools and simple measuring devices.
  • Routinely run a forklift with up to 15,000 lb capacity
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a variety of roles
  • Must maintain IDOT PCC 1, PCC 2, PCC 3, and Aggregate Technician certifications.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Possess the ability to safely operate power and hand tools 
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant  (Most production work is performed inside our main building, away from the weather)
  • Previous experience preferred, but not required.
  • High school diploma or GED required
